What is a SheepaDoodle?

A SheepaDoodle is a cross between an Old English Sheepdog Mountain Dog and a Poodle. If bred and raised correctly, this results in an incredibly lovable and fun family dog. Our owners send us videos of their 9 week old SheepaDoodles rolling over, laying down, and doing lots of tricks. It’s important to teach your SheepaDoodle good manors from day one, as they can be a little stubborn during the adolescent stage. They would rather play and have fun than doing all that serious training work!

What you need to know about our SheepaDoodles

Our SheepaDoodles are low to non-shedding, very happy go lucky, loyal, affectionate, (sometimes goofy) and one of the more calm varieties of all the Doodles. They are usually over 50lbs. They are most happy when they are with their families. They are usually tall, goofy, fun dogs who want to be with their family. As they pass a year old, their intelligence level really starts to mature, their attention span grows, and they can learn to do just about anything you teach them.

SheepaDoodles, ( or SheepaPoos), are an adorable combination of the Old English Sheepdog and the Poodle. If you are looking for a gentle, affectionate dog with a medium build, low shedding coat, and intelligence of a Poodle, a SheepaDoodle is a great option. If socialized and trained as puppies, our SheepaDoodles are generally obedient, friendly, intelligent dogs that are super affectionate and eager to please. They are a great family pet and good with children of any age. As they pass a year old, their intelligence level really starts to mature, their attention span grows, and they can learn to do just about anything you teach them. For all these reasons they have earned a reputation for being a good choice for a therapy dog.

Our SheepaDoodles are on the medium to large size, typically weighing more than 50 lbs full grown. Their coats are usually black and white bi-color and they have beautiful markings that make them all unique. You’ll need to invest in a brush and comb and give your Sheepadoodle a good weekly brushing, but their long straight to wavy hair makes their coat a little less maintenance in regard to grooming, compared to doodles with a curlier coat. A Sheepadoodle is a good choice for families with allergies due to their low shedding coat and lack of dander.

Less active than our AussieDoodles but a little more so than BerneDoodles, SheepaDoodles are playful dogs that need daily exercise and lots of playtime in order to keep them happy. They are a quiet gentle breed and have a low tendency to bark. With their larger size, they do require enough space to be content, but they don’t need as much room to run as some other dogs that are smaller in size. They are very social dogs and love to be with their families but are also fairly happy to be left at home alone for short periods if needed. Our SheepaDoodles are easy to love, easy to train, and have very few health issues which makes it easy to have them around for a 10-14 years.
